Monthly Storage
Bills - for all the excess stuff you no longer see, use, or even recall!:
Oh dear… storage costs; whew. All that money being drained away for the sake of possessions we
can’t let go of (though the storage businesses love it!). I’ve heard
such absurd tales, about hundreds of dollars a year, paid year after year
– and largely because it’s "out of sight, out of mind" (and often
for junk that the poor people can't even sell at a yard sale).
If you pay
for storage by the month, wrap your mind around the yearly bill!
When you’re getting ready to move, short-term storage might be a necessary
feature of the process. But I do adjure you to proactively eliminate as
you prepare, as much as you have time for, to save yourself grief later on. You’ll
be tired out from moving… and likely not want to put in the effort to merge
the stored stuff (already designated "not as important") into your
busy – and new – life. That’s an expensive way to discover how well you
can do without something!
Storage costs are one of the main budgetary trip-ups for modern-day families
(or individuals). It's far better to never begin than to risk forgetting about
the stuff that's out of sight, expensively gathering debits against your banking
account.
And if you really don't remember what's in your container, it's time to get
it out!
